By: Kate Parker-Burgard, Center for Leadership Director
On Monday, Nov, 8, we were happy to welcome back Catherine Simonson Hannon ‘10 to the Hilltop as a featured Lunch & Lead speaker. Partnering with the French department to kick off National French Week festivities, Upper School students gathered to learn about Catherine’s marketing career and, specifically how her facility with French has helped her to advance.
Hannon credits her strong foundation in French to her years in Jon Shee’s French class, and has stayed in regular contact with Shee since graduating. When asked to present a pitch to an audience of Parisians, For example, when asked to present a pitch to an audience of Parisians, Hannon reached to Shee and a French student who stayed with her during a SLS exchange for advice. Hannon went on to share some insights from her work and a motivating expression she embraced during her years at Under Armour: Be humble and hungry, which reflects both her humility and eagerness to advance. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Hannon recognizes the value of soft skills, mentioning kindness as a virtue that has earned her respect and support along her way.
World Language Department Chair Jon Shee said, "Our students were impressed by the fact that Catherine had accomplished so much in the decade since she left St. Luke's and that French continues to play an important, active role in her career and personal life."
